Why it didn't happen
The major post-election reviews found AI played a minor role. Meta said AI content was under 1% of fact-checked election misinformation, and the Alan Turing Institute's CETaS found no evidence AI disinformation measurably altered election results from the US to the UK, EU, Taiwan and India. Of 78 documented AI uses in 2024 elections, half weren't deceptive, and each deceptive one could have been made without AI for a few hundred dollars.
